Diwali is around and the festive mood has already set in! As usual, I kick off my festive preparations planning for the outfits first! Here is how I am styling a maxi jacket 2 ways this Diwali…
As much as I love shopping for outfits, its stressful as well. I am that size where I am not really the normal frame nor fall into the plus size. Its a big task finding suitable outfits for me with respect to size, body type, comfort and liking.
I am sure there are many Indian women who share the same issue as me when it comes to size issues – neither here nor there! This is one reason why I wanted to blog about fashion, where I can share my pain when it comes to clothing and also how I kick its ass with some thoughtful outfit choices.
Okay…enough of rants!
Its fall officially and who doesn’t love some burgundy. It was love at first sight for me when I spotted this maxi jacket aka tunic online and had to buy this!
Its got the perfect length, cut, prints and material… everything you would want in a maxi jacket. The material is light and flowing, made of silk and is so comfortable.
It makes for a great festive outfit, something that wouldn’t bother you while running around prepping, performing the puja or entertaining guests on the day!
I kind of tried a day to evening transition look with this maxi jacket – leggings for the day and maxi skirt for the evening.
Also breaking one fashion myth in this post – Women on the heavier side should avoid big/bold prints! Nay… with right styling you can pull it off with elan.
I have also shared complete outfit and makeup details and a little VIDEO at the end of this post. Don’t miss!
LOOK #1 – EDGY DAY LOOK | MAXI JACKET WITH LEGGINGS
As I said, this jacket/tunic can be worked many ways. Even with a pair of good denims! I chose a pair of black leggings with cuts & studs near the ankle for the day look.
Matched this outfit with some chunky & bling-y silver accessories to contrast the look. Wanted to show how well silver can go with an outfit that has some bronze in it.
You need not always work bronze in your outfit with gold/antique finish accessories. Sterling/german silver contrasts with the outfit and both of them tend to stand out well, creating a smashing look.
For the makeup, I opted for simple one with a quick black-bronze smokey eye that would work for both day & night and a dirty brown lips for that edgy look.
LOOK #2 – ETHNIC EVENING LOOK | MAXI JACKET WITH A-LINE SKIRT
Turn evening – time for puja, lights, family/friends & festivities!
Swap the leggings for a comfortable maxi A-line skirt for a lehenga-like ensemble. Switch your lipstick for a brighter, festive red and some jhumkas.
A simple ethnic necklace and bangles would look pretty with this outfit (I missed mine!). Nevertheless if you are someone who loves keeping it simple like me and let your outfit do all the talking, skip them royally.
I paired this outfit with some kundan studded wedges to match the golden, ethnic theme.
I hope you loved both the looks and would try these for your festive/ethnic/wedding wear some day.
