O.P.I. Mini Nail Paint in Vampsterdam

Heyya people…Presenting a review on the OPI Nail Paint Mini in shade – Vampsterdam.

This nail paint is part of OPI’s Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012.

I received this in my January Vellvette Box.

Price: INR 520 for the full size.

The way I see it:

Let me tell you first that this is not a very unique shade that you would die hunting for in other brands.

Its a deep chocolaty brown.. infact i would call this a dark raisin color.

I personally feel it needs to have a little red hue to be named something ‘vamp’….

Its a very rich shade with no noticeable shimmer in it & gives a high sheen finish.

The sheen manages to stay on as long as you have this paint on your nails.. LIKE!!!

Many bloggers have claimed that this one has a frosty, shimmery look… but I don’t find either of them in it.

The brush is of good quality & helps apply the nail paint well.

My brush had one strand sticking outside too, causing a little more trouble…

The first coat is a little streaky, but the second coat gives a full opaque finish.

I didn’t like the formula of this nail paint that much – I felt it was a tad heavy. It could well be the problem with only my nail paint too…

It caused bubbles after drying.. something that I totally hate… which u should be able to make out in the below pic..

I admit I am not one of those best nail painters around… being a lefty, its a hard job for me to paint using my right hand.. but I manage to do a decent job most of the time…

It stands good for 4 days without chipping (with only cooking & no other major household chore) – but the paint in my little finger started chipping off the 2nd day.

So nothing great in terms of staying power I would say.

Here is how it looks on me –

Its just a mini – so I am hopeful of finishing this quick or you never know I might just hand this over to mom or someone else, in case I get bored of this shade… (my mom likes reds n browns a lot..)

Overall, its a nice brown but nothing off-beat about this OPI. Its a very-very normal shade that could be easily spotted even in those 15-20 bucks nail paint brands.

Overall, I am upset!

I would probably be the only soul on earth to have given such a review on a leader like OPI ๐Ÿ™‚

The ‘Yay’ factors:

  • Brand leader in the nail paint segment
  • Nice shade
  • Good brush
  • Mini size is a plus
  • Free of ย toluene, formaldehyde & phthalates
The ‘Nay’ factors:
  • Not all shades are available in India
  • Only available in some online shopping sites
  • 500+ bucks for a nail paint could be chewy on many
  • I didn’t like the thick, gooey formula of this particular one

HnB rating: 2/5

I am still not giving up on OPI, might try some other mini or their sticks later ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you like this shade? Any dupes in drugstore brands that you know for this?
