MUA Lip Boom in Vibe

Hey pretty ones..I am back with another review – this time on our very own Make Up Academy’s (MUA) Lip Boom in the shade Vibe.

I picked this lip boom along with other stuffs in my MUA 50% off Haul.

Price: GBP 3 (~ INR 250)

I got mine for GBP 1.5

Quantity: Lipstick – 2.5 g; Lip gloss – 3.5 ml.

Shelf life: 12 months from mfg.

What the product claims:

Designed in collaboration with Alexandra Burke, the brand new Lip Booms from MUA are like nothing else on the High Street.

With a lipstick on one end and a highlighting gloss on the other, they create the look of fuller, curvaceous lips.
Use alone or all together for a striking, gorgeous look! There are so many possibilities with the Lip Boom and it’s a total Spring/Summer must-have!
How to use:Karla Powell, Make Up Academy Make Up Artist suggests applying the highlighter on top of the cupids bow for a fuller top lip, or applying in the centre of both lips for a plumped out full lip look.

The lipstick & lip gloss come together as a single lengthy tube with a twist-up connector in the middle.
The lipstick shade shows up through the bottom whereas the lip gloss is housed in a transparent container with a doe-foot applicator.
As such carrying the entire tube, could be irritating to few like me, who rarely use the given gloss. The way I see it:

I was excited to buy MUA products but at the same time online swatches didn’t help much in choosing the right shade.

On top of it, the model for these lip booms gave me another bouncer, when I peeped at her lips to get an idea of the shade.

Thinking that Vibe is going to be a soft brown, I went ahead & put this in my cart.

It was ‘love at first application’ for me with this lipstick.Vibe is a nice peachy brown shade with pink undertones. A lovely, lovely shade that would suit most Indian skin tones & a shade perfect for everyday wear to office or college.

The lipstick is creamy & and glides on the lips easily – so not much of a necessity to apply a lip balm beneath unless you have very-very dry lips.

The staying power of this lipstick is just above an hour & it leaves behind a nice peachy-fleshy tint on the lips that looks natural.

For the price, we couldn’t ask for more in terms of staying power.

Coming to the lip gloss, it smells of fresh caramel – I have been tempted many times to lick it off.

The doe-foot applicator isn’t of much help, since it does not manage to gather the gloss properly. So, end up dipping it a number of times to finish off your lips with a single coat.

The glitters in the gloss are apparently chunky, but they do not feel gritty on the lips. The lip gloss too doesn’t feel sticky.

The gloss does give a fuller look to the lips, but the glitters tend to settle unevenly on the lips, making it look odd.
