Maybelline Colorsensational Jewels Lipstick in Rubylicious – Review, Swatches & FOTD!

Hola gals..I am gonna review Maybelline Jewels Colorsensational Lipstick in Rubylicious.

I somehow missed reviewing this shade back in August this year. I had purchased 3 lipsticks from this range.

The other two shades have been already reviewed in the blog – Berry Brilliant & Fuchsia Crystal.

Now that it is winter (or atleast close to it in Hyd ;p) I dug into my stash and brought out shades suitable for wear this season.

Rubylicious undoubtedly is one such shade – ideal for winters, though its suitable for wear year-around too.

Price: INR 399

Every single lipstick applying soul knows this by now! 🙂

It has a flashy pink cover and a neat silver holder for the lipstick bullet.

What the product claims:

  • Illuminated color only from our deep jewelucent pigments.
  • Creamier feel only from our nourishing honey nectar
  • A captivating jewel collectionin 8 deeply provocative shades

The way I see it:

Like the most of you, the Jewels range is a big hit with me too.

Rubylicious is a mystery shade. It appears to be a darker red shade in the bullet.

Whereas upon application, its a beautiful deep pink.

The color could vary according to the color or pigmentation on your lips. It could appear deep pink with a red mix or a bright red with pink undertones.

Its the latter with me – it appears more red on me with nice pink undertones. It actually looks like ruby on me 😉

This shade brightens up my face or makeup instantly. With just some kajal & compact plus this lipstick – you can rock the world!

The bullet looks dry in appearance with no shimmers. While applying it glides on the lips effortlessly and gives a creamy to matte finish based on how dry your lips are.

If you have dry lips like me, its necessary that you prep them with some lip balm or lip base.

It does not bleed or settle into fine lines. No gritty feel – since there is no shimmer.

Its a vibrant shade ideal for hang-outs, parties & weddings… you can wear it to office too as a lip stain(single swipe).

It has insane pigmentation – so just one swipe is enough to cover your pigmentation & set out with subtle lips.

If you do not like to wear red or don’t want to appear too bold with statement red lips – this is your shade! 🙂

Here is a swatch of how the lipstick appears in my skin. My inner forearm is fairer than my face hence the lipstick shows up more pink than red.

It stays on me easily for 4 hrs. without food or drinks in between. With food it stays put on for say 2-2.5 hrs and fades away leaving a healthy pink tint on the lips.

Not bad at all for a drugstore brand!

Here is an LOTD for you all lovely gals.. who support me day-in, day-out! 🙂

An FOTD too..

Overall, one of my favorite lipsticks with awesome pigmentation, decent staying power & pricing and beautiful shades to choose from the collection.

The ‘Yes’ factors:

  • Will suit most Indian skin tones
  • Awesome pink + red combination
  • Value for money
  • Decent staying power
  • Insane pigmentation
The ‘Nay’ factors:
Nothing at all! 🙂
HnB rating: 5/5
Recommend? – Go for it gal! 🙂
