Today I am gonna review the latest launch from Maybelline in their Colorsensational range of lipsticks.
It is the Maybelline Colorsensational Jewels Collection Lipstick in Fuchsia Crystal.
Colorsensational range so far has been true to its name and a big hit in India & abroad. Though the Jewels collection was launched more than a year ago outside India, Maybelline finally decided to bring it down for us now.
The Jewels collection has 7 lipsticks in its range and all of them are beautiful berries & plums shaded ones. There is one pink & purple too.. 🙂
They have once again scored with the packaging of the lipstick.
Though it is the known silver lipstick bottom & transparent cap, this time the cap has come with some holographic effect.
It has a spiral prismatic, multi-reflect shine over the pink transparent cap which makes it all the more droolworthy.
What the product claims:
- Illuminated color only from our deep jewelucent pigments.
- Creamier feel only from our nourishing honey nectar
- A captivating jewel collectionin 8 deeply provocative shades
The way I see it:
This is yet another great lipstick from the Maybelline stable.
First of all, they have brought great shades keeping in mind the Indian skin tones – laudable!
The packaging is another hit – classy yet cute to carry around in your purse.
The lipstick as claimed is creamy and moisturising and even dry lips can carry this with proper exfoliation.
Though the lipstick looks dry in the stick, it glides smoothly on the lips and there is no need to tug it.
Its a nice fuchsia with blue undertones and I feel it would suit most Indian skin tones. I am wheatish and it suits me quite well and does not wash me out or so.
See swatches below for this shade:
|1 swipe – 4 swipes|
A lipbalm as base also does not make this one bleed but yes.. it makes it fade faster.
It does not settle into lines as well.
No review will be complete, without mentioning about this lipstick’s pigmentation. It is superbly pigmented i must admit.
Even a single swipe is good enough to hide lip pigmentation and one can always build up to the shade of their choice or cover.
It is also a excellent way to start using deeper shades like berries & plums from this collection for beginners like me, since this can be used as a lip tint with just one swipe.
Once you get the confidence to carry the shade, you can always go for more swipes & the desirable color 🙂
It has no shimmer or shine… the first thing I look for in a lipstick! Thus the entire range is suitable for everyday casual wear & for office wear too.
It stays put easily for 3-3.5 hrs on me without any food/drinks in between and when it fades leaves a nice deep pink tint with the lips.
Overall its a great buy in a great shade, that is moisturising and will suit most Indian skin tones.
This is my first fuchsia lipstick! 😀 Here is how it looks on me…
