MAC Lustre Lipstick in Lustering

Review by Christina.

The MAC lipstick that I am going to review today, comes with a Lustre finish.
The Lustre range has 30 shades in total and I
am sure that you can easily find one to suit you.
Okay, let’s talk about the shade – Lustering now.
Price: INR 990 for 3 g.
The way I see it:
This was a gift for me from my mum from the Gulf.
I never thought that my one and only experience owning a MAC lipstick
would be a disappointing one.
I mean no
offence to MAC lipsticks per say, it’s just that the one that my mum sent me
unfortunately didn’t suit me at all.  She
sent me one from the Lustre range.  Oh
my, it does have some jhakaas lustre.
The colour is pretty warm baby pink tone.  Very summery and very girly.
It is one of the last shades that I will choose for my lip color, but it seems to be my mum’s first choice for my
tanned skin tone… 🙁
On my very first application I
noticed that it goes on beautifully and is totally non-sticky.
It gives a sheer
wash of colour with one coat and you need 2-3 swipes to get full finish.
It feels light and moisturizes the lips nicely.
Now
the down side of it is that it totally highlights all the dry and flaky skin on
your lips because of its translucent formula.
I have never seen my lips look the way they do with this lipstick
on.  I look pale and sickly with this
shade.  It absolutely does nothing for
me!
Now if you are really fair and young
then this is going to be a great ‘daytime’ colour for you.
It will brighten up your face and give you an ‘angelic’ look!  It is not harsh nor
garish but has a nice soft hue.
The
formula is one that you will want to come back to and will enjoy
re-applying.
I had to give it away unfortunately,
but I was happy to do so…it suited a friend of mine who also works with
animals…so I told her to wear it with a big smile for her doggies!!!
The ‘Yay’ factors:
  • Moisturizing on the lips
  • Glossy finish
  • Young & summery shade
  • Suitable for the fair skinned
  • Colors the lips evenly
  • Sturdy packaging
The ‘Nay’ factors:
  • Tests on animals
  • Pricey
  • Won’t suit many Indian skin tones
  • Only available at MAC stores in select Indian cities
Some MAC trivia for you:
There are 8 different finishes of lipstick from MAC –
  • Amplified
  • Amplified Creme
  • Cremesheen
  • Frost
  • Glaze
  • Lustre
  • Matte
  • Satin
HnB Ed – I really love how the lipstick looks on u Chris..it looks to be a nice with purple undertones in the picture taken in flash…You gotta big heart that u gave away this lippie to ur pal 🙂
