MAC Clear LipGlass

Review by Christina.Hello people,

I am reviewing the Clear Lipglass from MAC Cosmetics today for you all.

Price: $14-15 (in Kuwait)

Quantity: 0.5 US oz

What the product claims:

A unique lip gloss that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Clear Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts.

Packaged in a convenient squeeze tube, Clear Lipglass is easy to apply using a lip brush.

 The way I see it:

This gloss came to me as part of a gift that my mum sent me from Kuwait. I don’t own any MAC products and was super excited to try out all that she sent me.

When I saw the gloss initially I was kind of stumped because I would’ve preferred a berry colored lipglass but well, you can’t have it all and a gift
is a gift.

It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips and a tiny bead of this highly concentrated product is all that’s needed to cover the lip area.

Clear Lipglass can be mixed with other products, like Pigments, and can be applied anywhere on the body except for the eye area to create interesting effects.

I think the tube is sweet and sturdy. The applicator is a slanted tip one where you have to squeeze the tube to use the product. I would have preferred doe-foot any day.

If you use it over a lipstick then that color transfers onto the applicator looking ’oh so dirty’.
I still proceeded to use it and gosh, it was the stickiest thing I had every applied on my lips. Goodness me.
Horrible, horrible sticky. My lips were just sticking to each other. That was all it took for me to decide to give it away.

It does not dry
out the lips and I do not think that is the same thing as moisturizing   Although it does say it contains Jojoba
This is a multifaceted gloss. You can moisturize your lips with it or use it as a gloss over an
ordinary lipstick hue.
You can turn even
the ugliest of lips into desirable pouts with just a bit at the center of the

If you don’t have on any makeup and you just want go with one thing then let your lips do it. You will be able to carry off this wet look easily.

If you have dry skin, then you can use this to highlight the area under your brows as well. I tried it once, not bad at all.

Again, if you are wondering about dupes…well, yes there are many available at a much lower price. I guess MAC CLEAR LIPGLASS commands what it does because of the formula and staying power.

Here is how it looks on my lips over a lipstick –

The ‘Yay’ factors:

  • Brand of international reputation
  • Moisturizing
  • Thick in consistency
  • Very glossy  – High shine
  • Stays shiny for quite a while
  • Multi-usage
  • Does not dry out lips
  • Non-scented
  • Easy to hold and apply
  • Coats lips evenly
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Travel friendly
The ‘Nay’ factors:
  • MAC tests on animals
  • Pricey
  • Very sticky – atleast I couldn’t stand it
  • Squeeze tube, slanted applicator (con for me!)
  • Nozzle gets messy, can mess up the cap too
  • Only available at MAC stores in select Indian cities
HnB rating: 2.5/5  (Half the points reduced owing to its stickiness)

I like this multi-talented gloss very much. I only hate the stickiness. You can amp up your lips or just condition them. A little goes a long way in this case with high shine!
