Lush Aquamarina Cleanser

Hey all…This post is all about one of my favorite cleansers in the recent times – Lush Aquamarina.

I received this in one of my Vellvette boxes as a sampler of 10 g.

My buddy Renji too gave her sample to mine – so I had enough product to decide on the cleanser & do this review here.

Price:Β INR 585 for 100 g.

Shelf life: 3 months (Keep refrigerated while in use)

Glycerine, Calamine Powder, Kaolin, Irish Moss Gel,Fair Trade Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Fine Sea Salt,Nori Seaweed, Sweet Wild Orange Oil, Patchouli Oil, Carrageenan Extract, Perfume*

What Lush claims:
Our pink squishy cleanser that was inspired by mermaids. An ocean of ingredients to soothe and calm the skin.

We make a mixture of carrageen extract, vegetable glycerine, Irish moss gel and aloe vera gel. We mix in fine sea salt, sweet wild orange oil and patchouli oil. Then we bind these together with calamine powder and kaolin. Finally we roll the mix inside a large sheet of nori seaweed – to create a huge facial sushi.

Aquamarina is a thick paste in pastel pink color with ‘algae-like’ seaweed stuff mixed in it. A good quantity of the seaweed is put on top of each cleanser too.

The way I see it:

Its a thick clay-ey paste that smells of Indian ‘paan’ to me. Its quite close to some sushi stuffing in its looks! πŸ™‚

A very small quantity is required for each usage about a peanut’s size.

Since the paste is quite thick & also has kaolin in it, you need to add some water & mix well in your palms before you apply on moist skin – so that it spreads well on the face & neck.

It cleanses the face well but does not remove any makeup. The face is brightened immediately after each use.

This cleanser is ideal for combination-oily skinned beauties. It leaves my normal-dry skin a little taut after each use, but nothing that cannot be managed with a moisturizer.

Why I like using this cleanser, inspite of it not ideal for my skin type is that – it manages to remove tan with regular use!!!!

Yes! I got some really old tan, accumulated over years.. and till date have not got back to my original complexion! πŸ™

These 2 small tubs gave me the ‘good hope’ of tan removal with regular & persevered use, that one day I can really see myself tan-free.

Again the downside of anything being Lush, is that they need to be emptied quickos & stored in the refrigerator during use.

This is going to be my ‘summer cleanser’ for sure in all the years to come (as long as Lush decide to keep producing this!)… coz I don’t want to see myself sneezing through the day using something cold on my face over monsoon & winters!

Highly reccomend this cleanser to every one who are looking for a good cleanser that can double up as a tan remover too!

The ‘Yay’ factors:

  • Cleanses very well
  • Natural ingredients
  • No preservatives
  • Gives a subtle glow
  • Brightens the skin immediately
  • Removes tan to good extent if used regularly
The ‘Nay’ factors:
  • Short shelf life
  • Some may not like the fragrance
  • Could be a little drying for normal-dry skinned
  • Pricey
  • Does not help in makeup removal
  • Tub packaging (But its too thick to come in any other form then)
This is some HG cleanser material, suitable for almost all skin types.. particularly in the summers to keep tan at bay!
