Lakme Enrich Satins Lipstick in Shade #140 – A MAC Dupe?

Review by Christina.Hello all… How have you all been?

Today I am gonna talk about this lipstick – Lakme Enrich Satins Lipstick in Shade #140.

Well this is my 4th product from Lakme. I do not really like the brand but was tempted to try out something.

I thought of a pop tint but couldn’t shell out INR 800 so I settled for this! 🙂
Price: INR 225 for 4.4 ml.
What the product claims:

Lakmé Enrich Satin Lip Color keeps your lips satin soft, vibrant and lasts long.

With 26 new shades added to the range of colors, makes a total of 70 brilliant shades to suit all skin tones.
The way I see it:
This lipstick is named 140. Yup, the name is a number, is a name!!!

Its a color that has pink in it, plum in it, maroon in it – all mixed up! Sometimes it looks plum pink, sometimes maroon, sometimes leans towards brown..

The lipstick glides on easily and smoothly. This formula of the lipstick is matte but when you apply it, it glides on without any tugging.
It does not dry out after being applied and feels okay. Sometimes it feels dry and sometimes it feels comfortable.
It does not settle in the fine lines of the lips – so no worries. The pigmentation is really very good and comes on well from the first swipe itself. It gives opaque coverage and can cover pigmented lips excellently.

This shade can be worn as a stain also – which is how I prefer it. You can also wear it easily to work or with full intensity for the evening. Topped with gloss, it is an even prettier colour.
This lipstick does not transfer on to your glass and cup. It did stay on for a good amount of time though, about 3 hours. It survived a dosa and idli meal. It faded by the 3rd hour and left a very natural stain behind.
The packaging of this lipstick is very boring but I can stand it. It looks very ‘auntily’ in my hands but it’s okay.
It smells like Benadryl cough syrup… 😀 Not a strong fragrance but since this is a review I had to smell it and tell you. Otherwise I could not smell anything really.
From the lip swatches, you can see the matte effect it gives.

It will not look nice on dry, chapped lips. I did not exfoliate my lips, nor do I have any dry skin at the moment. If I had exfoliated and prepped them it would have looked even nicer.
The lipstick comes off with ordinary soap. You do not have to use any fancy makeup remover.
In the pictures I have used it with LAKME perfect definition lipliner- #12 Blackcurrant. Got it for INR 185 for 1.1gms.
Finally, is this color a dupe for MAC Captive? Decide for yourself! 😉

Its a tad bit darker or plummier to MAC Captive.. but quite close a dupe, ain’t it? 😀

The ‘Yay’ factors:
  • Availability
  • Opaque in one go
  • Matte finish
  • Range of 70 shades
  • Higher color delivery
  • Vit. E & Olive extracts
  • No shimmer
  • Lovely shade for fair & wheatish skin tones
  • Suitable for both day & evening wear
  • Lasts for decent amount of time
  • Leaves a subtle tint after a meal
  • Pigmented enough for pigmented lips too
  • Fades evenly
  • Affordable & travel friendly
The ‘Nay’ factors:
Nothing really – but I don’t like the packaging much, plus very dry & chapped lips cannot use this lipstick without prepping their lips first.

I don’t think I will purchase another one from this range, coz I don’t think any of the other ones suit
me.
It’s a nice product to have. Go,get
one for you coz there are a ton of colors and one for everyone… 🙂
HnB Edit – Lovely shade Chris…looks gr8 on u! I’m not sure if this would suit me though 🙁 My first ever lipsticks 4 yrs. back were from this range 😀
