Stay Fit While You Fly

 

Do you fly
often for work? Sometimes you have to catch flight from work and sometimes at
odd hours. If yes, then this article is for you.
You have to
hurry for flight, keep a check on essential things which you can’t afford to
forget. In all these you forgot to have breakfast, if its early morning flight
or snacks if you head towards airport from office itself at odd hours.
Sometimes
you try if that mug of coffee at airport could control your hunger pangs to
avoid those cheesy, sugary pre-packaged sandwiches or muffins which could crash
your diet. You feel hungry, cranky, frustrated when you can’t control your
hunger pangs and can’t bite those heavy calories snack.
To combat
that sugary temptation, stress, sleep deprivation and other inconveniences,
here are some strategies:
1. Stay Hydrated: Avoid coffee before
and while in the flight, as caffeine Β can dehydrate you before you get to
know. Choose filtered water instead of tea provided on flight.
2. Maintain Optimal Blood Sugar Levels:Β  Eat right to keep sugar level
steady and to reduce hunger pangs and cravings. Meal should contain lean
protein and healthy fats, leafy and green vegetables to keep you feel and to
avoid those muffins temptations.
3. Prepare
Healthy Travel Essentials:
If you fly often, then prepare a kit of snacks in your carry bag including raw
nuts, fruit, protein powder and other portable and healthy snacks to avoid
hunger pangs during travel. Don’t leave anything on chance for meals and
snacks. In this case you will save time and temptation for those cheesy snacks.
4. Get
Adequate Sleep: Carry
earplugs and eye mask to avoid noise and light and for good sleep. Adequate
sleep is essential when you travel as the jet lag, different time zones can
impede your sleep and can exaggerate your hormones, so it’s better to reach a
day before your work on destination to get good sleep.
5. Nourishment Is Necessary: Carry your
multivitamin or protein powder with you . Vitamin D boosts immunity to ward off
nasty bug and magnesium relax nerves during in flight turbulence and relives
constipation. You can carry drink powder which will provide you drink as good
as fresh drinks.
6. Keep
Germs At Bay: Carry hand
sanitizer and use it after you touch any surface at the airport or inside
plane. Influenza, diarrhea and MRSA viruses could be easily found on flight
food trays or latches.
7. Carry Your Essential Medicines:
If you feel sickness , anxiety on plane or if the flight ride get on your
nerves, but for obvious reasons you could not avoid flights, carry your
medicines to keep your nerves calm.
8. Keep Stress At Bay: IΒ  know besides work, the security checks and
running hurry for flights , keep waiting can be very stressful. Frustration can
elevate stress and hormone cortisol, and cortisol break down muscles and stores
fat. To keep stress at bay , take a deep breath and acknowledge that things
cannot always be in your control.
9. Don’t Skip Workouts: Don’t
skip your workouts thinking that it won’t make a difference, but no. Regular
workouts improves mood, reduce anxiety and boost feel good hormones. Squats,
and other body weight exercises or even airport staircases and walking make
good pre boarding activities.
10. Request
Special Meals: Some
airlines provide special meals or it comes as a choice while you book your
tickets. That special meal is higher on nutrition and quality and if the kind
of food i.e. low in fat or sugar, is available in choices, request for that.
Keep these things in mind and make your travelling in flights more healthier and less frustrating. Stay healthy and have a safe flight.
