Review by Christina.Hey gals,

I am back with another review on a product from an elusive brand – Clarins.

Let’s see about the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer today.

Price: INR 1600 for 15 ml.

Ingredients:

What the product claims:

This beauty-award winning primer is the perfect combination of make-up and skin care.

With an ultra-light, ultra-smooth texture it glides on skin, leaving a imperceptible veil on its surface, filling in and smoothing away the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pores.
Your skin will be foundation ready to give your make-up a more even and flawless finish. Can be used alone or mixed with your foundation.

  • Acacia Micro-Pearls: Temporarily refine skin texture filling in fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Pink Pearl Pigments: Optically minimize fine lines and wrinkles while softening facial features.
  • Vitamin E: Protects skin while keeping it comfortable.
The way I see it:

First, I love the packaging of this product.

The little red ‘glass’ jar makes it look expensive, not like it isn’t already….but you know what I mean. It draws ‘eyes’ to it when whipped out in public.
There is a small spatula that comes with the product, but my mum says she did not get it with her’s. It helps you scoop out the required amount.
I just use a clean finger. It works okay for me because I do not have to share it with anyone.

The product itself is very light weight. It is light pink in color and appears thick. In actual, it’s a very airy mousse.

All you need is a tiny bit of product, say little more than a pepper corn for the entire face.
It does an instant job. You will see your pores and fine lines minimized or invisible, imperfections missing and your make-up just gliding onto your face.
It acts both as a makeup base and primer and also does the job of giving you flawless skin pretty well.
Allow the primer to set for a few minutes before you apply your makeup.

Now for those of you who know that primers contain silicone, have sensitive skin or worried about breakouts – this just might be the thing for you.

Clarins claims that their primer is non-comedogenic. It is also ophthalmologist tested, which is an added bonus.
I have combination skin, but these days it’s leaning towards dry. I find this primer perfect for my skin because it smooths dry, flaky or rash/scarred skin.
It lives up to its claims and I am happy for the little bit that I got because it is amazing.
I never thought I would ever want or need a primer but now that I have it – why not use it.
It makes me feel good because I hardly wear make-up, but then if I can make my skin look like its worth a million bucks then I need a little bit BB cream and some color only I guess.
The ‘Yay’ factors:
  • Brand of international reputation
  • Contains impressive natural ingredients
  • Works on almost all skin types – dry, normal, combination, oily, sensitive
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Opthalmologist tested
  • Works instantly (as claimed)
  • Minimizes pores & fine lines
  • Helps makeup glide on the face smoothly
  • Eliminates the need for heavy foundation or powder
  • Has no scent
  • Beautiful packaging
  • Comes with a spatula
  • Lasts for a long time
  • Worth an investment

The ‘Nay’ factors:
  • Expensive
  • Available only at Clarins counters in select cities & select online sites
  • Think twice if you have oily, acne-prone skin. It may not set with your skin & might do more harm than good.
HnB rating: 4/5 (Minus for price & availability)
HnB Ed: Wow.. seems to be a miracle of a product. The list of positive factors makes me yearn for this magic primer. I am gonna pick this sooooon…. Gr8 review! 🙂
