Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Nourishing Lip Balm with SPF 30 UVA/UVB Sunscreen – Product Review

Dear all..Another sun protection product to be reviewed in today’s post which is – Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Nourishing Lip Balm with SPF 30 UVA/UVB Sunscreen.

Be it summer or any other season – lips are the most neglected area when it comes to protection from sun.

Off late  I have been hunting for lip balms with SPF and this is one in my kitty.

What the product claims:

Prevents chapped & sunburned lips. Organically pure & preservative free.

Dermatologist tested for safety. No animal testing.

Aloevera Barbednsis, Honey, Acoruscalamus, Mulethi, Almond oil, Sunflower oil, Kusumbhi oil, Sesame oil, Ricinus communis oil, Ointment base.

Price: INR 99 for 16 gm.

Shelf life: 3 yrs.

It comes in the usual Biotique green tub with an inner lid.. {imagine the face pack tub reduced due to some deficiency 😉 }

The way I see it:

The lip balm is translucent white in color and is creamy enough for application.

The smell is a strange.. one that of sugar candies that we used to have in our school days! Nevertheless, its not overpowering and is bearable. The fragrance too fades away in less than 10 mins..

The balm is enough moisturising and yes.. works good on dry, chapped and broken lips too.. My lips were going very dry recently and this balm helped me a lot to get my lips back to normality…

The USP of this balm is the SPF 30 sunscreen in it… IMO its the only balm with such a high sun protection factor presently in the market…

I cannot really comment on the sun protection the balm gave me… but the much needed hydration it provided has made me more than happy about this product.

I am just hoping this balm actually protects my lips from the sun and surely make it a point to update you all once  I get to know its effectiveness..

I also strongly feel that the packaging could be improved to a greater extent.. boring green tub is not one that I would like to carry around.. something sleek in a tube suits me..

For now, I am just basking in its hydration and self-claimed sun protection! 🙂

The ‘Yes’ factors:

  • Availability
  • Value for money
  • Good quantity for price
  • SPF 30 – much higher to other SPF lip balms
  • Very good moisturiser
  • Work even on dry, chapped lips

The ‘Nay’ factors:

  • Packaging could have been better
  • Might have to use for longer period to realise sun protection ability

HnB ratings:

Availability: 5/5
Price: 5/5
Packaging: 3/5

Overall product: 4/5 (-1 for packaging)

Repurchase? A sure-shot summer lip balm for me..

Recommend? Yes! Give it a try not bothering about the packaging and the candy smell…
