Shesha Beauty recently launched Ashtapathy Herbals – their signature brand with 100% natural personal care products. The products are exclusively made in Kerala, India termed as ‘God’s own country’ owing to its luxurious lagoons and lush greenery.
I am so much into clean skincare and haircare these days, this package definitely got me excited.

Ashtapathy Herbals currently has 5 products in its flagship – 3 soaps & 2 shampoo variants. They are coming up with more skincare/personal care products alongside a curated range of baby care products too in the future.
The shampoos are priced at INR 125 (~ $2) and soaps at INR 70 (a little over $1) each. Nothing can beat this!
All the products from Ashtapathy Herbals are packed in beautiful holographic packaging in earthy shades.
The shampoos come in flip-open tubes that are convenient in the shower and the soaps wrapped in a thin plastic sheet to retain freshness & hygiene.
Very pretty, classy and convenient packaging – unbelievable for the given price point!
Now that the pricing is too affordable and the products are made in a remote village in Kerala, India – don’t even have an iota of doubt on their quality! They are on par with some of the renowned natural brands out there.
Complete list of ingredients (not just the key ones!) are listed on the product packaging including product price, shelf life and usage directions. All these information are available on Shesha Beauty website too, from where you can know each ingredients purpose and also purchase the products.
All of the products smell so amazing – so earthy, natural and warm! They perform as intended and I am quite impressed.
ASHTAPATHY HERBALS SHAMPOOS
The brand has two variants of shampoos in the offering –
- Ashtapathy Herbals Mud Shampoo
- Ashtapathy Herbals Deva Thali Shampoo
The mud shampoo is the first product I tried from the lot, before I started off with the Deva Thali one.
Both the shampoos lather very well and get rid of dirt & oil from the hair and scalp. If you had oiled your hair or you were on dry shampoos for quite sometime, you may have to go through 2 washes using the shampoo to get rid of all the oil and debris from the hair and scalp.
You actually don’t need a conditioner after using this shampoo since it has a lot of natural conditioning ingredients in it already. I have been skipping my conditioner conveniently all the time I used both these shampoos on rotation.
Also if you were into sulphate-based shampoos so far and made the switch to SLS/SLES-free haircare stuff like these, you may initially find that your hair is a frizz ball and unmanageable. Its just that the product is working to clear the scalp and hair residue. Stick around and see changes for better in a couple of more wash cycles and use a silicone-free hair serum in the meanwhile.
Personally, I feel mud shampoo is a great scalp cleanser, perfect for my oily scalp and hair. It also adds good volume to my fine hair. But it can be a little dry too. I use this whenever I have a hair mask on or have oiled my hair.
Deva thali shampoo on the other hand is more hydrating and gives a nice shine to the hair in my opinion. This is my favorite of the two!

ASHTAPATHY HERBALS SOAPS
The brand has three variants of soaps available –
- Ashtapathy Herbals Olive Soap
- Ashtapathy Herbals Mud Soap
- Ashtapathy Herbals Deva Thali Soap
Each of these soap come packed in a plastic wrapper inside and outer holographic carton. You get a nice whiff of fragrance from the soaps from inside the packaging only.
These soaps lather well too and does not strip the skin of its natural oils post wash. The sizing is perfect too to hold in the shower.
The Olive soap is green, Mud soap is an earthy brown and Deva Thali soap is muddy brown in color. I really like the “a” motif on the soap too.
I personally love the Olive soap for its distinct fragrance. All the three soaps are very calming on the senses.
Only a very faint fragrance lingers on the skin after shower, owing to its natural fragrance and no additives that tend to stay post wash as well. The fragrance of the soaps too fade a wee bit when kept open near the shower, but that hasn’t affected their efficacy.
These soaps are safe to be used on kids as well as on your face.

I have been a SLS/SLES and silicone-free hair care buyer for quite long now. It was easy for me to lap up these shampoos. At the same time, I am more of a shower gel person, but these soaps made their way with their own charm in my bath shelf.
I see myself buying the Ashtapathy Herbals Deva Thali shampoo and Olive Soap definitely.
